Pollard's experiences as a pioneer settler and an Indian fighter in old northwest Texas with Sul Ross, Charles Goodnight, Jim Tackett, Ike Sanger, his brother, J. B. Pollard, and his father, R. W. Pollard. Pollard recounts the Agency War, the return of Cynthia Ann Parker and the lack of protection provided to the settlers by the Federal troops.
