A Guide to the Robert E. "Bud" Mims Papers, circa 1954-1960, 1983
Robert E. “Bud” Mims is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Class of 1959. He was editor of The Daily Texan, 1957-1958, and completed a Master of Arts in English at UT in 1961.
Contains black and white photographs of the UT Texas Round-up Parade, 1955, and of UT students (friends of Bud Mims), circa 1954-1960. A small portion of the material relates to UT courses Mims was enrolled in and organizations he was affiliated with during the 1950s. Also included are publications, printed matter, and ephemera commemorating the 1983 University of Texas Centennial Celebration.
A photographic essay from 1956 features Midland residents and UT students Carol Travis, David Stubbeman, Virginia Lou Wilkinson, John McGuigan, and Diane Perkins. These photographs appeared in the Midland Reporter Telegram. A second photographic essay prepared for The Daily Texan, circa 1960, features UT students. The collection includes Mims' correspondence describing these photographs.
