Biographical NoteBenjamin (1811-1884) was a Louisiana senator and secretary of war for the Confederacy. Scope and ContentsTypescripts of letters concern Texas lands held by Benjamin and the legal assistance of James Harper Starr and Nathaniel C. Amory in connection with the lands. Original letters are in the James Harper Starr Papers. There is one manuscript letter concerning Benjamin's authorization to Governor Francis R.
