A Guide to the Carl Peters Benedict Reminiscences,
1933
Recollections by Benedict (b. 1874) of
his 1894 experience as a cowboy on the 8 Ranch in the Panhandle area of Texas
include descriptions of cattle ranches and businesses, drives, clothing,
housing, routine tasks, stampedes, river crossings, and roping and brandings.
Reminiscences were published as A Tenderfoot Kid on Gyp
Water by the Texas Folklore Society in 1943.
