(1815-1871), Mier Expedition prisoner and author of A
Narrative of the Capture and Subsequent Sufferings of the Mier Prisoners in
Mexico (1845), and the Bell family in Texas and elsewhere. The
correspondence pertains to family affairs, Bell's business prospects and
opportunities, and family efforts to secure his release from prison in Mexico.
The papers include an 1839 description of the city of Austin, discussions of
politics during the Republic of Texas, accounts of Indian affairs and
hostilities including the Plum Creek Fight, information concerning Ruthersville
and Ruthersville College, as well as genealogy and legal records. |
