Hawkins (Jerry A.) Photograph Collection, 1922-1960s
Creator Sketch:Jerry A. Hawkins was born in Austin, Texas on October 23, 1922. From 1949 to 1976 he was a scientist at the Applied Research Laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin. Scope and Contents:Collection is in two parts. The first consists of one photo album of images of Austin children, primarily Jerry Hawkins, in different outfits (cowboy, sailor, clown, etc.), and with different outdoor toys (car, tricycles, bow and arrow, fishing pole, ball, kite, wagon, dolls, horse, blocks, train engine, real dog, scooter, book satchel, pistol and holster, real cannons). The second comprises slides taken by Hawkins at sites around the U.S. during the 1950's and 1960's including: Hemisfair in San Antonio; San Francisco; Albuquerque; Los Angeles; University of Texas Power Show in Washington and New York (1952); Oklahoma; Natchez, Mississippi; California; Arkansas; Louisiana; Florida; Auburn, Alabama; Arnold Engineering Development Center in Tennessee, Redstone Arsenal in Alabama; and Holloman Air Development Center in Alamogordo, New Mexico RestrictionsAccess Restrictions:Transparencies restricted due to format.
