Biographical Note

Christian Becker, an immigrant from the Rhineland, established a cotton gin in the vicinity of Holland Creek, Texas, founding the city of Becker around 1869 (Grimes County, Texas). In the coming decades more than twenty families of Germans moved to the area and Christian Becker employed some of them at his cotton gin. (from the Handbook of Texas)
