A Guide to the James Britton Bailey Papers, 1832-1869
Biographical NoteBailey settled in Texas before Stephen F. Austin arrived but was admitted as one of his colonists in 1824 and took part in the Battle of Velasco. His will requested that he be buried in an upright position facing west, and this request was honored.
