		photostatic copies of Bailey's accounts and documents concerning the
		administration of his estate by Joseph Henry Polley, his son-in-law, as well as
		some of Polley's personal correspondence.</abstract>

	 <head>Biographical Note</head><p>Bailey settled in Texas before Stephen F.
		Austin arrived but was admitted as one of his colonists in 1824 and took part
		in the Battle of Velasco. His will requested that he be buried in an upright
		position facing west, and this request was honored.</p>
