William Mayo Atkinson was born September
1, 1847, in Lunenberg County, Virginia. He attended Hampden-Sydney College,
graduating in 1869. He lived in Gonzales, Texas, for most of his life and
served as county district attorney. He also served in the Confederate Army. He
died in Gonzales on November 12, 1936.

to Atkinson's Virginia ancestors and Cora Belle Atkinson Kemper's scrapbook
