  <bioghist encodinganalog="545"> 
	 <head>Biographical Note</head><p>Educator and language specialist Theodore
		Andersson was born in New Haven, Conn., to Swedish parents in 1903. He attended
		Yale Univ. where he earned his B.A. in 1925, M.A. in 1926, and Ph.D. in 1931.
		Andersson taught at Yale, Stanford, Wells, and other colleges and universities,
		specializing in Romance languages. He worked for the Modern Language
		Association and as a consultant for UNESCO. He joined the faculty of the Univ.
		of Texas at Austin in 1957 and served as chairman of the Dept. of Romance
		Languages for many years. He became interested in bilingual education for young
		children, and lead summer training schools for teachers. He worked for
		Southwest Educational Development Laboratory in Austin, Tex. Andersson
		published several books and numerous articles in the fields of literary
		criticism and education.</p>
