Curtis Jackson "Shorty" Alderson (1924-1959) earned his B.A., M.A., Ed.D. and L.L.B.
degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, where he lettered in tennis and
cross country. He went on to coach football, track, and basketball at UT, as well as
being Professor of Physical and Health Education. He was also instrumental in the
founding of swimming as an intercollegiate sport in the Southwest Conference and was
inducted into the Longhorn Hall of Honor in 1967.
