A Guide to the Camp Wilson Photograph Album,
1916-1917
Scenes of training activities and camp life of a Wisconsin National
Guard unit at Camp Wilson (adjacent to Fort Sam Houston in Bexar County) in
1916. The unit was likely part of the National Guard mobilization ordered by
President Wilson in June 1916 as a response to border problems with Mexico.
Contains views of Landa Park in New Braunfels, Austin cityscapes, mills and
gins, and camps made by the unit while on maneuvers. Also included images of
San Antonio parades, businesses, and Mexican-Americans.
