			<p>The Henry Noel Ferguson Photograph Collection, 1847, 1889, 1931-1968, 1980, was

service and various museums and other state, federal and local agencies.
Particularly well-documented are United States historic sites, monuments, state and

			<head>Organization and Arrangement:</head>
<p>The majority of the photographs are captioned and undated and have been arranged in
groups to reflect their association with the article they illustrated. Each group of
photographs has been assigned a subject. However, the photographs in each group may
include a wide range of images that reflect the content of the article. For example,
the group of photographs concerning Stephen Collins Foster also contains images of
the Suwannee River. Similarly, a photograph of Boquillas, Mexico, is found in the
group of photographs of Big Bend National Park. Photographs of cemeteries, forts,
missions, houses, and other buildings are filed under place. Those photographs that
were used to illustrate the author's book are filed under Brownsville, Texas.
Because the book treats not only the development of Brownsville, but also the
history of the Rio Grand region, this group also contains images of such Rio Grande
sites as Roma, Texas, and Bagdad, and Guerrero, Mexico, as well as a photo of the
<emph render="italic">Bessie,</emph> the last steamboat that operated on the Rio
Grande River. A bibliography appended to the inventory lists citations to the
				articles.</p>
