A Guide to the Robert P. Wagner Papers,
1930-2004
Robert Wagner was born on May 11, 1918 in The Bronx, NY. He received a
Bachelor of Science degree from City College of New York in 1940. Upon
graduation he began as a Teaching Fellow in Zoology at the University of Texas
while attending graduate school. In 1943 he received a Ph.D. from the
University of Texas and was named Emeritus Professor of Molecular Genetics and
Microbiology in 1999. He was actively involved in genetic research, published
extensively on the subject, and was a member of many scientific societies. He
was a founding member of the Society for the Study of Evolution and the Texas
Genetics Society. Between 1977-1999 Wagner was a consultant for the Life
Science Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Robert P. Wagner died in
Santa Fe, NM on March 3, 2004.
Contains correspondence, memoranda, research files and notes, published
articles, writings, lecture notes, conference proceedings and programs,
biographical documents, and photographs.
