Historical NoteWilliam C. Menefee moved to Texas in 1831, and his family settled in Fayette County. He joined the Texas Militia as a Junior Second Lieutenant in 1861. He was promoted to First Sergeant by 1864, and served as alternate representative for his camp at the United Confederate Veterans Convention in 1895.
