A Guide to the W. Earl Turner Papers, [ca. 1940s-1990s]
Biographical NoteW. Earl Turner earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. From 1947 to 1980, he served as Executive Vice President of the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO), representing independent oil and gas producers and royalty owners. Turner worked with numerous politicians, including President George H. W. Bush and future president George W. Bush, in developing energy policies. Furthermore, he published his book Stable Money: A Conservative Answer to Business Cycles in 1966 and wrote numerous articles and booklets on monetary policy. The papers illustrate his interest in monetary and economic policies, his research on international trade and energy policies, as well as the publication of his book Stable Money.
