A Guide to the Women’s News Hour Videotapes, 1999-2002
Historical NoteThe hour-long Austin cable access show, Women’s News Hour, showcased women’s topics and women’s activities in current affairs throughout Austin and the world. Shows often focused on interviews conducted by Frieda Werden or lectures taped by Anne Merrill. Furthermore, an all-women crew generated the program, and the producers were associates of WINGS: Women’s International News Gathering Service, a production company co-founded by Werden. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsThe Women’s News Hour Videotapes, 1999-2002, contain nine VHS, twenty-one Hi8 ProMP, eighteen DVCAM, and twenty-two U-matic videocassettes of the Austin cable access television show, Women’s News Hour. The episodes feature local and global women’s issues and current affairs, lectures taped by Anne Merrill, and interviews conducted by Frieda Werden of international and local female activists, feminists, authors, and others, such as Vandana Shiva.
