Frederick A. Stiles
(19441992) earned both a Master of Arts in Mathematics (1968) and a Ph.D. in
Mathematics Education (1971) from the University of Texas at Austin. This
collection consists of class notes and term papers for courses taught in the
Mathematics Department at the University of Texas at Austin as well as Stiles’
Masters thesis and Ph.D. dissertation.

Frederick A. Stiles (19441992) earned
both a Master of Arts in Mathematics (1968) and a Ph.D. in Mathematics
Education (1971) from the University of Texas at Austin. At the time of his
death Stiles was an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at San Antonio College
in San Antonio, TX.
This collection consists of class notes
and term papers for courses taught in the Mathematics Department at the
University of Texas at Austin as well as Stiles’ Masters thesis and Ph. D.
dissertation. Many of the class notes are for courses taught by Dr. R. L.
Moore. Also included are draft copies of “Concerning Dean John R. Silber and
the Proposed Dismissal of Professor R. L. Moore” with handwritten notes.
