A Guide to the Lizzie Scott Neblett Papers,
1848-1935
Born in 1833 in Mississippi, Elizabeth
(Lizzie) Scott moved with her family to Houston when she was 6 years of age.
She married farmer and attorney William H. Neblett in 1852, and the couple
settled in Anderson, Texas before later moving to Corsicana. Lizzie Scott
Neblett kept a diary of her experiences from 1852 to 1863. This diary and
related documents provide a chronicle of life for a woman in rural Texas. She
died in Anderson, Texas in 1917.
Collection includes diary,
correspondence, literary works, genealogical material, scrapbooks, clippings,
legal and financial records, advertising circulars, postcards, and
photographs.
