	 <head>Biographical Note</head> 
	 <p> Mary Austin Holley (1784-1846) was a teacher and the cousin of Stephen
		F. Austin. Born and raised in Connecticut, she lived in Louisiana, Kentucky and
		Texas. She is credited with writing the first history of Texas in English. She
		aroused sympathy for Texas during the Texas Revolution and worked for Texas
		annexation. She died of yellow fever in 1846. </p>
