		<head>Biographical Note</head><p>Julien Sidney (sometimes spelled Sydney)
		  Devereux, Sr., (1805-1856) was a landowner, planter, soldier, legislator, and
		  county official in Covington and Macon Counties, Alabama, before moving to
		  Montgomery County, Texas (1840-1845) and later owning a plantation in Rusk
		  County, Texas (1845-1856). Julien served in the Texas legislature in 1855-56.
		  He had two sons, Julien Sidney, Jr. (county and district clerk in Ector County,
		  Texas) and Albert (livestock and investment agent in Decatur, Texas). </p> 
		<p>John William Devereux (1769-1847), father of Julien Sidney, Sr., was a
		  planter and state legislator in Alabama and Georgia. </p>
