The Council of Texas Archeologists is a
nonprofit voluntary organization dedicated to maintaining and promoting the
goals of professional archeology in Texas. These goals include preservation and
conservation of the cultural resources in Texas, promotion and coordination of
communication and cooperation within the archeological community, and the
promotion and distribution of information which enhances public awareness of
the limited and nonrenewable nature of cultural resources.

Collection consists largely of published
reports dating from the mid 1960s to present time dealing with archeological
cultural resource issues in the state of Texas. Many are site-specific
assessment studies and reports. Reports from both public and private research
organizations are included, such as the Center for Archaeological Research at
the University of Texas at San Antonio, the Texas State Department of Highways
and Public Transportation, and the Texas Archeological Survey at the University
of Texas at Austin.
