Biographical Note

Texas photographer Jeff Newman took the majority of these photographs when he was based in Austin, Texas. In 2004, Newman was living in Dallas.


Scope and Contents

The prints in this collection document blues, rock and country musicians performing in Austin and Houston, Texas between 1978 –1998. The slides portray musicians, politicians and public figures (G.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, the Dalai Lama) in various cities in the United States, as well as landscapes, buildings and other aspects of the environment in Houston and Galveston. Some of the musicians photographed were participating in festivals such as Juneteenth, South by Southwest, Farm Aid II and Woodstock ’94.
