		<head>Biographical Note</head><p>Dr. Samuel Clark Red was a graduate of
		  the University of Texas, having entered when it opened in 1883, and graduated
		  June 17, 1885 with the first Bachelor of Arts degree ever issued by the
		  University. Red was actively engaged in the general practice of medicine and
		  surgery for 52 years.</p>
