Biographical Note

Louis Lazarus Silverman (1884-1967) was born in a Russian village in what is now Lithuania. He immigrated to the United States with his family when he was eight years old, and received a B.A. and M.A. in mathematics from Harvard University. After earning his Ph.D. in 1910 from the University of Missouri-Columbia, Silverman taught at Dartmouth College, the University of Tel Aviv, the University of Houston, and South Texas College. His research concerned divergent series.


Scope and Contents

This collection consists of mathematical lectures in Hebrew and two photocopies of newspaper articles (in English) about Silverman.
