A Guide to the Gene Schulze Papers, 1978-2000.
Biographical NoteGene Schulze was a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin and of the University's medical school. He practiced medicine in Schulenburg, Houston, and Flatonia in addition to serving as a volunteer doctor in Africa, Central America, and Asia. In addition to his four books (Yesterday's Seasons, The Third Face of War, Schweitzer: Shadow of a Star, and MIKE) Gene Schulze published poems, short stories, essays, some of them in Texas-based publications. His book, The Third Face of War, won the Texas Institute of Letters' Carr P. Collins Award for the best non-fiction book of 1970. Gene Schulze was an enthusiastic rancher as well as an equally enthusiastic doctor and writer. Scope and ContentsCollection is comprised primarily of manuscripts of Schulze's published books and unpublished manuscripts. Includes handwritten notes, drafts, photographs, and correspondence.
