The University of Texas Learning
Activities for Mature People (UT LAMP) organization was founded in 1989 by Dr.
Thomas M. Hatfield, then Dean of Continuing Education at the University of
Texas at Austin. UT LAMP is a volunteer run, on-going education program for
people over 55. It is housed at the Thompson Conference Center at the
University of Texas at Austin, and encourages senior citizens to participate in
classroom and social activities. All administrative, technical and
infrastructure support functions are performed by volunteer members.

The UT LAMP (Learning Activities for
Mature People) Records reflect the adminstrative and creative history of this
on-going education program for senior citizens and consist of audiocassettees
of speeches given by visiting lecturers, vita, papers and correspondence from
those speakers and business and financial records including correspondence,
committee meeting minutes, membership directories, calenders, newsletters,
bylaws and financial and technical reports ranging from the organizations
inception in 1989 to the present.
