		  personal and business correspondence of the Truair family. Much of the
		  correspondence is between George G. Truair and his father John G. K. Truair,
		  and his sweetheart Nellie during his service in the Civil War. George G. Truair
		  served in two regiments as a New York Volunteer and participated in several
		  significant military events.</abstract>

		<head>Biographical Note</head><p>John G. K. Truair (1817 - 1889), was
		  partnered in J. G. K. Truair &amp; Company and the Daily Journal Office in
		  Syracuse, New York. George G. Truair (1842 - 1888), was the son of John G. K.
		  Truair, and served as a member of two regiments during the Civil War, the 137th
		  and the 149th New York Volunteers. He was mustered from central New York and
		  saw action at Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Vicksburg, and Chickmauga. Her
		  served during the Chattanooga Campaign, Battle of Lookout Mountain, the Atlanta
		  Campaign and Sherman's march to the sea. John G. Truair (1872 - 1926), was the
		  son of George G. Truair, and was a minister in Franklin, New York.</p>

		<head>Scope and Contents</head><p>The papers consist of letters to John
		  G. K. Truair regarding business matters with the J. G. K. Truair &amp; Company
		  and the Daily Journal Office in Syracuse, New York before and after the Civil
		  War. The majority of the papers are letters between John G. K. Truair and
		  George G. Truair while George G. Truair served in the Civil War as a New York
		  Volunteer with the 137th and the 149th regiments. Numerous letters are to
		  George G. Truair from Nellie his sweetheart. Included within the letters are
		  muster rolls, promotion paperwork, discharge certificates, photographs,
		  diaries, a Bible and a transcript depicting the events experienced by George G.
		  Truair. There is a letter addressed to frank from Grace Eager, granddaughter to
		  George G. Truair</p>
