Biographical Note

G. Baley Price (1905- ) was a professor of mathematics at the University of Kansas, Lawrence from 1937-1975, including a term as chair of the department from 1951-1970. Price helped to establish the School Mathematics Study Group and was intimately involved with its development and spread of the "New Math." A former president of the Mathematical Association of America, he was awarded their Award for Distinguished Service to Mathematics in 1970. In addition, Price was a civilian operations analyst at the headquarters of the Eighth Air Force in England (1943-1945). Price is the author of a history of his experiences with mathematics during World War II, as well as a history of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Kansas, Lawrence.

This collection includes correspondence, committee files and printed material documenting Price's work with the Mathematical Association of America, the University of Kansas at Lawrence, and professional articles and papers written by Price on the subject of mathematics.
