Biographical Note

Earle Raymond Hedrick (1876-1943) received his Ph.D. from the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in 1901 under the direction of David Hilbert. He later went on to teach at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Milton Brockett Porter was a 1897 graduate of Harvard.
