John Bustin was
a reporter and critic known as the "Dean of Austin
Entertainment." His career as an entertainment reporter spanned fifty
years, and he wrote for such publications as The Daily
Texan (University of Texas at Austin), The Texas
Ranger, and the Austin-American Statesman,
as well as various local magazines and newspapers. John Bustin died of cancer
in Austin, Texas on April 8, 1998. The Austin
Chronicle now gives a "John Bustin Award for
Conspicuous Versatility," to a theater performer each year.
The Bustin Papers include press releases, drafts of reviews,
photographs, correspondence, playbills and clippings accumulated by John
Bustin.
This collection is stored remotely at the Library Storage
Facility; 48 hours notice is required for retrieval.
