Abstract: Edward L. Dato joined the Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers, Local 96, Fort Worth, Texas, as an apprentice in 1910. He was elected President of Local 96 in 1914, and held every office in the lodge during his lifetime. Papers are comprised of correspondence, 1912, 1955-1965; dues books and receipts, 1912, 1915-1918, 1954; newspaper clippings, 1914, 1946-1975; and photographs, 1907- 1967. Most of the correspondence pertains to Dato's retirement and service awards. Photographs are reproductions that depict Dato and other members of the local. The clippings relate Local 96's history and activities as well as provide information about Dato's career. Also included are two of Dato's dues books and the August 29, 1957 issue of the Fort Worth Labor News.

Biographical Note

Born in 1890, Edward L. Dato joined the Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers, Local 96, Fort Worth, Texas, as an apprentice in 1910. He was elected President of Local 96 in 1914, and held every office in the lodge during his lifetime. He died in 1976.
