Historical Note

A self-study was conducted by the faculty at Arlington State College at the request of the Southern Association of Colleges, Universities and Secondary Schools. The primary objective of the study was to bolster the school's request for accreditation as a senior college.

A steering committee was appointed by Jack Woolf, the president of the college, on March 29, 1962. The committee was commissioned to draft a statement of the purpose and objective of Arlington State College and to oversee the work of the area study committees. Appointments were then made of the chairmen and members of the ten area study committees: Purpose of the Institution, Financial Resources, Organization, Educational Programs, Library, Faculty, Student Personnel, Physical Plant, Research, and Graduate School. Reports of these area study committees were published in the bound volume The Arlington State College Self-Study. The work of all the committees was completed by July 1, 1963.
