Abstract: James M. Terrill and Amelia Aileen Hamaker Terrill were both students at Grubbs Vocational College, a forerunner of the University of Texas at Arlington, and served on the staff of the student periodical, the Shorthorn. This collection contains a booklet, photographs, programs, clippings, and student newspapers that document student life at Grubbs Vocational College from 1918 to 1921. The booklet, Blue Book of the Grubbs Vocational College (1918), describes the rules and regulations of the college. A disassembled scrapbook contains photographs, programs, and clippings. The photographs, 1919-1921, depict students, faculty, buildings, and athletic teams. Several issues of the student periodical, the Shorthorn (1919-1920), are also included.

Biographical Note

James M. Terrill and Amelia Aileen Hamaker Terrill were both students at Grubbs Vocational College, a forerunner of the University of Texas at Arlington, and served on the staff of the student periodical, The Shorthorn. James M. Terrill entered Grubbs Vocational College in the fall of 1918 and rose from sergeant to Cadet Major in his senior year in 1921. Amelia Terrill was a member of the senior class in 1920. The couple married sometime after graduating.
