Abstract: The International Typographical Union, Woman's Auxiliary 44 was organized October 5, 1923 toward the purpose of promoting closer social ties between the families of Fort Worth Typographical Union Local 198 members. The bulk of this collection is comprised of scrapbooks documenting the yearly activities of Woman's Auxiliary No. 44. The scrapbooks contain clippings, union labels, photographs, newsletters, state and national International Typographical Union convention programs, reports, brochures, rosters, certificates, posters, booklets, and memorabilia. Also included in the collection are minutes, financial records, a photograph album, certificates, posters, and a booklet containing the constitution and bylaws of the group.

The International Typographical Union, Woman's Auxiliary 44 was organized October 5, 1923 toward the purpose of promoting closer social ties between the families of Fort Worth Typographical Union No. 198 members.


Scope and Contents

The records contain minutes (1923-1953), financial records (1945), scrapbooks (1947- 1971), photograph album (1955-1957), certificates (1967-1968), posters, and constitution (1923). The bulk of the collection is comprised of scrapbooks that document the yearly work and progress of the auxiliary and Fort Worth Typographical Union No. 198. They are primarily made up of clippings but also include union labels, photographs, newsletters, state and national International Typographical Union convention programs, reports, brochures, rosters, certificates, posters, booklets, memorabilia, and an original cartoon by Hal Coffman. A photograph album contains many photographs of social events and Union members at work. A booklet containing the constitution and bylaws of the Woman's Auxiliary No. 44 to Fort Worth Typographical Union No. 198 is also present.


Organization

Materials are arranged according to document type and arranged chronologically within document type. Two scrapbooks received after initial donation and processing were placed at end of the scrapbooks.
