Abstract: Howard and Arista Joyner were professors of Art at North Texas Agricultural College (NTAC), a forerunner of the University of Texas at Arlington. They began teaching at NTAC in 1937 and collected documents pertaining to the founding of the school and the history of Arlington. This collection contains legal documents, photographs, bulletins, newspapers, and a letter. Legal documents, 1839-1900, pertain to the founding of Arlington College and include a deed to land on which Arlington College was founded, two shares of stock in Arlington College, a Republic of Texas land grant certificate issued to Thomas Smith, and a notary public commission for E. E. Rankin. Also included are North Texas Agricultural College bulletins of the Fine Arts Division, 1938-1942; photographs of Art classes, 1939-1950; and issues of the Arlington Journal, 1898-1901, 1927, 1948.

Biographical Note

Howard and Arista Joyner were professors of Art at North Texas Agricultural College (NTAC), a forerunner of the University of Texas at Arlington. They began teaching at NTAC in 1937 and collected documents pertaining to the founding of the school, as well as early issues of the Arlington Journal.
