Biographical Note

Lloyd C. Clark, Jr., (1923-2014) was a student heavily involved in journalistic endeavors at North Texas Agricultural College (NTAC) from 1940 to 1942. He served as editor of the NTAC student newspaper, The Shorthorn, in addition to compiling, editing, and privately publishing a dormitory newsletter, the The Aggie Dormocrat, later The Dormocrat, and a summer school bulletin, Summer School Breeze. His interest in writing about his beloved NTAC did not stop after he graduated. While in the army, he privately published a newsletter, the Ex-Claimer, later called the Ex-Press, that contained news about NTAC alumni. The newsletter was based on correspondence sent to Clark from ex-students and faculty concerning updates on their lives and news about former classmates, which was especially poignant during the war years.

Clark was elected president of the Ex-Students Association of the North Texas Agricultural College in 1946 and, in 1947, the publication of the Ex-Press was taken over by the Ex-Students Association with Clark serving as editor. Clark remained active in the organization until he moved to Arizona in 1948. The following years witnessed Clark embark on a long career in journalism, return to active duty as an Army instructor, teach college history, and work in public administration for the state of Arizona. Clark died in 2014 and, per his wishes, his ashes were scattered on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington, formerly known as NTAC, where he was a student.
