Historical Note

The Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen, Lodge 147 was a labor union of railroad workers formed in Temple, Texas. The Brotherhood was first established in New York in 1873 and by the turn of the century, changed its name to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen when it expanded its membership.


Scope and Contents

Records consist of photocopies of minutes. The minutes record and describe the proceedings of meetings held by Local 147 from 1883-1887 and include entries concerning officer ballots, elections, various motions, individual members, grievances, labor conditions, dues, and other general union business.
