Scope and Contents

Papers are comprised of correspondence, scrapbook pages, photographs, newspaper clippings, and ephemera. Materials document both Harvey C. Fremming's professional and personal activities. The scrapbooks contain mainly newspaper clippings about unemployment in Los Angeles, California, Fremming's work as Director for Unemployment Stabilization, and labor related issues and columns written for the Labor Journal by Fremming while he was CIO regional director in Kansas City, Kansas. Some scrapbook pages contain clippings of recipes and articles by Fremming's wife, as well as her handwritten personal recollections. Correspondence includes letters dated in 1944 from John R. Steelman as Director of Conciliation for the U.S. Department of Labor. Much of the correspondence is by or about Bonnie Fremming. Photographs are family photographs.
