Biographical Note

Carl A. McPeak (1905-1970) was a lifelong supporter of labor unions and causes. He was an organizer and official in the Oil Workers International Union in Oklahoma during the depression and served as a labor representative on the War Production Board from 1942-1944. From 1936 to 1956, McPeak held various positions for the CIO including state director for Texas from 1950 to 1953. After the AFL and CIO merged in 1955, he continued to work for the newly formed AFL-CIO.


Scope and Contents

Papers contain biographical data, correspondence, newspaper clippings, program, and articles. Correspondence pertains to McPeak's various positions with labor organizations and labor activities. Newspaper clippings pertain to labor issues and also include an obituary for Carl A. McPeak. The program is for the 1954 Indiana State CIO Convention.
