Historical Note

The Iron Workers' District Council of the State of Texas was organized June 1, 1952. It serves as a central organizing body and is composed of local unions affiliated with the International Association of Bridge, Structural, and Ornamental Iron Workers, AFL-CIO. The purpose of the organization is to coordinate activities and communication amongst its affiliates. In 2007, the Mid-South States and Texas District Councils were merged together to form the Ironworkers District Council of Texas and the Mid-South States.

Scope and Contents

Records are comprised of minutes, constitutions, correspondence, and financial reports. Minutes record and describe the proceedings of meetings held by the Council from 1957-1964 and include lists of officers and members and topics including affiliated unions; political campaigns; financial matters; and labor conditions. Minutes of business agents and executive board in the planning stages of forming the Council are also included. Financial reports include audit reports and statements.
