Ruth Dearmin Cooke Photograph Album:A Guide
Historical NoteThe 36th Infantry Division and its regiments were stationed at Camp Bowie, Fort Worth, Texas. The division, known as the "Texas Division" and the "T-Patchers" and comprised of Texas and Oklahoma National Guardsmen, was mobilized July 18, 1917, under the command of General Edwin St. John Greble. The division was sent to France between the end of May and mid-August, 1918; returned to the United States between April and June 1919; and demobilized in June 1919. Barron Field was a World War I pilot training field near Everman, Texas. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsPhotograph album, two loose photographs. The bulk of the photographs in the Ruth Dearmin Cooke photograph album portray parade scenes in downtown Fort Worth, Texas, from 1918 to 1919. They include the review of the 36th Division, April 11, 1918; the Red Cross Parade, May 20, 1918; the Armistice Day Parade, November 11, 1918; and the parade celebrating the return of the 133rd Field Artillery, March 13, 1919. Photographs on an album page dated April 7, 1919, depict crowds waiting at Camp Bowie and the arrival of the 132nd Field Artillery troops by train. Return to the Table of Contents
