<abstract label="Abstract:">Originally chartered in Illinois in 1847 as the Rock Island and LaSalle Railroad Company, the road was renamed Chicago and Rock Island Railroad Company in 1851, the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railroad Company in 1866, and the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railway Company in 1880.  In Texas, three main Rock Island routes crossed the state through Fort Worth, Dallas, Houston, Galveston, Dalhart, Memphis, and Amarillo.  This Rock Island record book contains information about railway accidents involving injury to an employee, passenger, or other individual, in Texas and New Mexico between March 15, 1904, and July 7, 1905.
