Mexican War Diary Attributed to John N. Richardson:
John N. Richardson was born in 1822 and was a member of Boon Company of an unknown regiment in the Mexican War.
This is an unsigned diary of an American soldier relating his experiences during the U. S. War with Mexico. It has been attributed to John N. Richardson because Richardson family birth records located in the back of the volume include a John Napoleon Richardson, born 1822. In addition, the diary, dated November 26, 1846 to July 8, 1847, opens with a complete alphabetical list of the near 100 enlisted men and non-commissioned officers of the Boon Company, including a John N. Richardson. The diary is rich in battle content, geographical description, and personal narrative.
