Historical NoteThe Steel Workers Organizing Committee (SOC) formed in 1936. The USWA was created at the SWOC convention in 1942. Several industry unions merge with the USWA during the years 1942-1985. In 2005 the USWA merged with many other unions to create the United Steel Workers.
