Historical NoteJohn Luther Morgan, Jr. was born at Forth Worth, Texas on Oct. 29, 1921. He was in the Class of 1941 at the North Texas Agricultural College. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Oct. 29, 1941 and fought in WWII. He was considered one of the best young pilots in Marine Corps Aviation. Capt. Morgan destroyed three Japanese fighter planes in 90 seconds. He was killed near Okinawa on March 28, 1945. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal.
