Historical NoteThe Center for Greater Southwester Studies and the History of Cartography was created in 1990. Its purpose, according to its governing document, is “to encourage and sponsor interdisciplinary studies, scholarship, research, and teaching that interpret the people, society, economy, environment, history and cultures of the Greater Southwest.” The Center is governed by the Executive Committee, the Center Fellows, and the Director.
