Lieutenant Garrett Barry Mexican War Letters:A Guide
Biographical NoteLt. Garrett Barry was a soldier that served in the U.S. War with Mexico. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsFour letters penned by Lt. Garrett Barry between April 25, 1846, and April 29, 1847: three to Joshua Hathaway of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the other to his "brother" John M. Wyse of Maryland, both of whom appear to manage his personal business affairs. The letters were written from Jefferson Barracks near St. Louis, Missouri, and Monterey and Tampico, Mexico. The October 27, 1846, letter provides a good description of the Battle of Monterey. Return to the Table of Contents
