Clark, Lloyd.
1941-1949
While Lloyd Clark was a student at North Texas Agricultural College, 1940-1942, he privately published a dormitory newsletter and edited a summer school bulletin. While in the Army, he privately published a newsletter, the Ex-Claimer, later the Ex-Press, which contained information on ex-students of NTAC. In the Fall of 1947 publication of the Ex-Press was taken over by the Ex-Students Association with Clark as the editor. Clark was elected President of the Ex-Students Association in 1946 and remained active until he moved to Arizona in 1948. The Lloyd Clark Papers are comprised of correspondence, newsletters, financial records, minutes, constitution, newspaper clippings, photographs, and programs. AR2162 volumes, 1 box (0.21 linear ft.)

Biographical NoteLloyd Clark attended North Texas Agricultural College from 1940-1942. While a freshman he wrote a news bulletin for Davis Hall cadets called the Aggie Dormocrat. "The purpose of the page is to further the interests of the Davis Hall boys as a group." He also edited and published the Summer School Breeze which was distributed to all summer school students in 1941 and 1942. During his Army years he wrote and mailed to ex-students at his own expense a newsletter (the Ex-Claimer) in an attempt to maintain contact with and report the whereabouts of all ex-students of North Texas Agricultural College. Clark's Ex-Claimer expanded from an occasional mimeographed newsletter into a bi-monthly newspaper called the Ex-Press at which time he also became editor of the Camp Hood News. In addition to printing news of ex-students, the paper reported activities and events that took place in Arlington and on the North Texas Agricultural College campus. The paper is enriched with cartoons, photographs and local advertising.
After World War II, the Ex-Students Association was reorganized. Clark was elected President on July 4, 1946 and was reelected the following year. With the August, 1946 issue, George Hawkes, publisher of the Arlington Citizen Journal, assumed the printing of the Ex-Press offering an additional column and longer pages. With Fall 1947 it became a publication of the Ex-Students Association with Clark as editor.
